Harry is protected at the Dursley house by the Charm his mother cast. Voldemort has found a way around that protection. Set in the summer after first year.
- A very well written and very accurate (as far as canon goes) fic. I have used the blood bond myself in three of my unpublished stories, (which are now somewhere in cyber-limbo, due to a computer failure. *GAAAAHHH!!!*)
Snake...erm, i mean SnaPe is the perfect stooge to destroy the wards. He's trusted by Dumbles, and likely could worm the location out of him.
I really loved the hell-for-leather last charge. Dumbeldore took as many as he could knowing it was a useless gesture.
- Definitely a dark story but it does address an interesting point. If conditions had become that intolerable at the Dursleys', would the protections have failed? I can imagine Dumbledore's shock if/when that happened and his profound and sincere regrets afterwards, but it might be way too late then. He risked quite a lot on a very chancy ward.
Author's responseGiven the way the Dursleys act, I can see the Bond failing a couple of ways. The Dursleys have to 'accept' Harry, but as we saw in book six, they did so under duress only. What if that had not been enough?
All in all, the Charm's protection was not worth the pain, in my opinion. (Especially after what we find out in the end of book seven.)
