I sighed and threw my last shirt into my bag.
“What are you doing?” Gerard asked as he walked into the room and closed his door softly.
“What does it look like?” I snapped.
“It looks like your gathering all your stuff as if you’re going somewhere.” Gerard answered.
“Right you are!” I said sarcastically.
“Where are you going?” Gerard asked.
“Where else would I be going?” I asked.
Gerard stared at me blankly.
“You’re going home?” Gerard guessed quietly.
“I have to, I can’t hide out here forever.” I sighed, sitting beside Gerard on his bed.
“Yes you can. Don’t leave.” Gerard said sadly, wrapping his arm around my neck and nuzzling his head in my chest.
“It’s not like we’re never going to see each other again…” I laughed.
“But what if something happens again?” Gerard whispered, looking up into my eyes.
“I’m not even sure if it’s safe to go back, but I feel like I’m abandoning my family here.” I said quietly, tears slowly starting to fill my eyes.
“You’re not abandoning them.” Gerard said softly, wrapping an arm around me and pulling me close.
“I don’t want to go back there, but I have to…” I said, pulling away from Gerard and grabbing my bag.
I stood up and looked at Gerard.
Gerard stood up and tightly wrapped his arms around me.
“Call me if anything happens. Anything.” Gerard whispered in my ear before kissing it softly.
A few tears slid down my cheeks and soaked into Gerard’s shirt.
“Geez, you’re emotional today. This morning you were all ‘angry Rachel’, then you were ‘screaming, happy Rachel’ then you were ‘tired Rachel’, then you were ‘depressive Rachel’ then ‘loving Rachel’, then ‘snappy Rachel’, and now your ‘sad Rachel’.” Gerard said, chuckling slightly.
I laughed as a few more tears escaped.
“Everything’s going to be okay. I’ll make sure of it…” Gerard whispered before stepping away slightly to look at my face.
He leant in and kissed away my tears.
I smiled and kissed him softly on the lips.
“Let me at least walk you to your house?” Gerard said softly.
“Fine.” I sighed.
“Let’s go.” I said quietly, prying myself away from Gerard.
