“Object”

Being raised a good, rational feminist,
Sheltered from knitting, I Love Lucy and an appreciation of housework,
I find my admiration of you
Difficult.
I’m burdened by the guilt
Of the oppressed oppressing,
Of the leered leering,
Of the easy to obey arguments flip flopped back onto me.
On the other hand,
(Oh, your hands)
You’re just
Well
Pretty.
Good to watch.
(Is it bad to love the look of your shoulders under your t-shirt?)
It’s
Well
Easy to forget
That you’re a person.
With thoughts and feelings.
(And washboard abs)
And I wonder if those awful
Sexist
Jerks,
Looked at those catcalled
Exploited
Sisters,
The way I look at you.
