It was always such a surreal experience to open up like that. To scream and cry and hurt himself, to release all his demons and dark secrets into the face of the masses.
It was as if he stepped out of his own body and became one in the crowd. And maybe he was the only one then who could really see that broken man onstage who was no more a god than the people who saw him as one.
