Iudicus XI -part 2
0 ReviewsThe plan to retrieve the Iudicus XI is made.
Planet: beraine, donorain sector.
{A messenger comes into the board room, carrying an urgent message. He salutes to the 5 officers in the board room, then speaks.}
"Sir, we just received confirmation- the iudicus XI has, well, uh, we lost contact with it."
(an officer stands up)
"What the hell?! isn't that the 3rd ship this month that we lost?!"
(another officer begins speaking)
"The messenger may leave the board room now. A classified board meeting must begin."
The messenger salutes and leaves. Two heavily armed guards shut the adamantium doors leading into the board room.
"Well, what are we going to do about this?"
"about what.?"
"the third ship this month that we lost..."
The highest ranked officer begins talking.
"I suggest, that we take action before fleet command does. If fleet command becomes involved, entire planets in our sector may be...disposed of, in search of the mysterious threat."
The other two officers look at each other. Then, one speaks.
"well, what would you suggest us do?"
The highest ranked officer, presumably a commodore, sighs.
"Since we lost contact with the ships, we must retrieve the vessels-by force if necessary- then, investigate the possible threat. I personally, fear a much deeper threat then actually suspected."
"...which is?"
The commodore sighs again.
"I fear...a hive infestation of the missing vessels. In fact, I fear that a large number of our ships will be infested, than relaunched against us."
"hive-hive infestation? What's that?"
One of the junior officers speaks up.
"a hive infestation is a tyranid tactic- they overwhelm a ship with numbers, then spread their gene spores all over the place. These spores evolve rapidly, and they soon become eggs. Eventually, the millions of gene spores will hatch into millions of tyranid-tyranid monsters. Even if the first assault is repelled by defenders, the gene spores will sweep the defenders away."
Another officer speaks to the commodore.
"so you're saying...the tyranid strategy is to infest as many of our ships as possible, then turn these ships around and send them to our planets, as part of an invasion force?"
"possibly."
"well then, shouldn't we be sending boarding parties to take back the ships, and then launch a pre-emptive strike on the tyranid planet in this area?"
"we should...but, we cannot risk sending large numbers of soldiers...fleet command will get suspicious. We need a group.. More compact, but with the same amount of firepower..like, like the-"
"-like the kasrkin commandos?"
"precisely."
[kasrkin directive base space field] [personnel:500] [spacecraft:80]
"Fasten hell guns, prepare gear, and move into the shuttle! Move!"
Twenty kasrkin commandos marched in line into a boarding shuttle. They had been briefed on their mission about 2 hours ago. The objective? Simple. Retrieve the Iudicus XI.
