Chapter 2: Customers? Uh…NO!!
Kyoya looked at the petite woman standing in front of his group, he being one of the only two, the other being Haruhi, not gawking at how she could ask such a rude statement nicely.
“We are the Ouran High School Host Club. Some people had spread a rumor about their being a hostess club that was confirmed today by a customer.”
“Well aren’t you the perceptive one?” she said sarcastically.
“I’m sorry. She always acts like that and plus she’s also a little cranky today,” a girl who was taller then her but slightly younger said as she pulled the other girl aside gently.
“You would be too if you were in my position,” she grumbled pulling out a folder and her glasses. She took the pen from behind her ear out and started working on the papers in front of her. She sat on the edge of the table swinging her legs and sometimes biting her lip in concentration. Dawn sighed and shook her head.
“It must be hard being the club president/treasurer. I wouldn’t know of either position because I am merely the vice-president,” she said to them, “I think introductions are in order. I’m…”
“Dawn Roseridge. Daughter of Della Roseridge formally know by her maiden name, Della Lionheart the professional cellist and dancer, and Dominic Roseridge, widely known artist, amateur inventor, and soccer professional,” Kyoya said with a file in his hands.
“Um…right and this is my cousin…”
“Luna Blackthorn. Daughter of Christine Blackthorn, Della Roseridge’s sister, who specializes in volleyball as well as singing, and Mark Blackthorn, a professional track and field runner as well as a professional photographer,” Kyoya spoke up again. “These are…”
“Tamaki Suoh, Kyoya Ootori, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, Mitsukuni "Honey" Haninozuka, Takashi "Mori" Morinozuka, and Haruhi Fujioka. By the way Haru-chan, you really should go back to your old clothes. That disguise doesn’t suit you at all,” Luna said shaking her head. Haruhi sighed and told her to ‘shut up.’ Even Kyoya look surprised. “Yes, Haruhi and I know each other, very well I might add.”
“It’s not like I had a choice,” Haruhi grumbled causing Luna to smirk and mumble ‘Same old Haru.’
“Lu, while they’re here why don’t you tell them how the system works around here?” Dawn said politely.
“I’ll do it but don’t think you can boss me around. I’m your boss,” she said pointing at her. She brought a piece of paper out to make a chart for them to see making the explanation easier. “Our club invites both boys and girls. The guys come here mainly for the same reason girls go to your Club, but there are some that, like the girls that do come, just come to talk or for advice. We separate into different groups. We do it by sweets since there are so many types: cake, whipped cream, ice cream, chocolate, pudding, lollipops, pie, caramel, peppermint, Rice Crispy treat, licorice, rock candy, bubble gum, brownies, and cinnamon. Some girls are in more than one group because their personalities fit more than one. Like I’m in cinnamon and lollipop.”
The twins looked at her ¾-sleeved white tee-shirt which had a sucker on the left side and cinnamon candy on the right, both designs near the shoulder. She caught where they were looking at and explained, “I make the uniforms myself trying to fit it as best as I can to each girl’s preference. These are only for our Club.” She also had black slacks with chains on them with black sneakers.
They all looked at Deanne’s uniform which was a red short-sleeved blouse with cake on the right and ice cream on the left. She had a black knee-length skirt with red ballet flats.
Maritza had a long-sleeved blue shirt with the same designs as Lauren’s but had a floor length black skirt over her midnight blue platform sandals.
“They are rather unique,” Kaoru commented.
“And individual,” Hikaru added.
“Luna is also a fashion designer that works with your mother but in secret so there are no paparazzi after her like they hover around your mother,” Kyoya added. The twins gaped at her as she took off her glasses. “Plus, she models some of your mother’s clothes but has always done it at her house since her schedule is always busy.”
“Our families, the Lionhearts, the Blackthorns, and the Roseridges, all are sport and fine arts associated families. I major in volleyball and photography as well as fashion design and other things. Dawn majors in tennis and painting and sketching as well as singing. She designs a few of her own clothes and I bring them to life,” Luna explained to them. “Then some of the other designs are my own, experiments sounds like a good way to describe them.”
“No skirts, right?” Haruhi asked. Luna shook her head.
“There were only like two for special occasions because my mom forced me to.” They both shuddered.
“They’re both tomboy-ish. It’s almost like they’re scared of skirts,” Dawn explained. Maritza chuckled and blushed when everyone turned their attention on her.
“Hey, no scaring or embarrassing my employees,” Luna said stepping in front of the girl.
“Everyone, this is Maritza. She’s another hostess here,” Dawn explained as she gestured to Maritza.
“It pleasure to meet all,” Maritza said as she gave a slight bow. They looked a little quizzical at her speech.
“Maritza was born and raised in Mexico before her parents moved them to the United States. They then came to Japan simply cause they like to travel but Maritza was done moving and having to settle into a new life each time so her parents settled down for her. When she’s old enough to live on her own, we all believe they’re going to start traveling again just without her.”
“My speech is problem I try work on,” Maritza said with a semi-embarrassed look on her face.
“There is nothing wrong with your speech. We can still understand you,” Luna pointed out grinning.
“You may but others not,” she huffed. Luna patted her arm before a customer came in.
“If you seven may move, I still have a job to do.” She walked around them and smiled. “Oh, hello Alonzo. Hold on, Maritza is right here.” She led him around the crowd that hadn’t moved at all. Maritza smiled and put her hand in the crook of his elbow to lead him to the lollipop area. “We close in half an hour, so if you can leave until closing time, that’d be great. We still have work to do,” she said pushing everyone out; she had to push the twins, who were reluctant, out forcefully. “Good God, my job is never done!” she yelled out loud. She ignored everyone looking at her and slumped back over the podium.
Dawn shook her head before leading yet another customer to her area.
