beneath, are feet, drunk
our mother sees us watch the sky
too bare to heave
recall what you were
skin smooth, sleep too long ago
remember who you loved
because these will drive on
fall under your tongue as if it were drunk
see our mother wait to heave
the sky too bare, too mean
what you were was gone long ago
who you loved will drive on
because you leave behind whose left
old’s been on before
if it is beneath, our mother won’t see us
the sky waits so long, but not for you
mean, your tongue is too mean
who will love you when you drive
because you’re older than leaves
been around too long
our mother sees us watch the sky
too bare to heave
recall what you were
skin smooth, sleep too long ago
remember who you loved
because these will drive on
fall under your tongue as if it were drunk
see our mother wait to heave
the sky too bare, too mean
what you were was gone long ago
who you loved will drive on
because you leave behind whose left
old’s been on before
if it is beneath, our mother won’t see us
the sky waits so long, but not for you
mean, your tongue is too mean
who will love you when you drive
because you’re older than leaves
been around too long
