An unusual line of reasoning, but not what I'd call funny. The idea that Shinra would test its products on unwitting customers just isn't surprising. Maybe if Sephiroth had said something like, "Remember when you were a new recruit and you said the food tasted funny? I thought the bubbles would have been a hint..."
