It's fucking dismal outside. Not once would I ever consider myself going out there; because it looks so damn bad. Yet, as I stare out the window, there is someone out there, happy as can be. The skipping and the person kicking their feet into the puddles happens to be something that is undesirable to me. Yes, me. I, Hannah Lee (oh my God, that rhymed!).

How could this person do this? How could you find enjoyment playing in cold water? If you like it so much, then take a shower. There's plenty of water in there. It's a lot better when you're in the house, all warm and cozy...but I'm so attracted to this person out in the street. It's quite hypnotic, I can't stop staring for some reason.....

The person noticed me. It was a woman! A woman with beautiful, big eyes, small features, and absolutely long hair. She's gorgeous, and she's calling to me.

“Come out. Come out!” I hear beyond the clamorous rain. She was flailing her arms to and fro, making sure I had her attention. I do, and she knows that.

In an odd twist, after all of the things I said, I put on yellow rain boots, a pair of blue jeans, and a jacket over my white t-shirt. I went outside. Beyond the doors and comfort of my home, I realised quickly that it was chilly as all hell out here. She didn't seem to mind, though, grabbing my hands and pulling me out into the grueling area. The weight of the water was only on the ground, only attacking me when I told the clouds I hated it to myself. But the girl just laughed, still dragging me along with her odd happiness.

“Isn't the rain just the best? Especially when it's so ample like this?” I was going to answer with a 'no,' but seeing how she was just enjoying herself, I stayed silent, staring into pretty Asian-like green eyes. She basically wore the same clothes as me, but with polka dot rain boots and black jeans. Her jacket was white, too. And she appeared to be the same age as me: grown. “It's just so beautiful, do you agree?”

Staring into the faint light above, I heard thunder off in the distance. She was having fun still, so I didn't ask her if she wanted to come inside my house until I heard the thunder a bit closer.

“Yes, it's very fascinating. I like it a lot.” I lie. I didn't like this as much as those in the 80's hair metal bands. She adored rain, as she told me, so much that she'd “always sit on the porch or roam around in it,” taken from her own words. “...how old are you, and what is your name?”

“My name is Annabel,” the blonde replied. “And I'm twenty-one. You?”

OH MY GOD, SHE IS OLDER THAN ME. By one year! Who would've thought?

“I, uh....my name is Hannah Lee, and I'm twenty.” I muttered. The thunder became loud and the lightning was bold, so I asked her if she wanted to enter my home. She gladly agreed to do so, still taking my hand in hers as I guided her in.

We sat on the leather couch after we had taken showers; I gave her a pair of navy blue skinny leg jeans with silver rhinestones planted on the back pockets, and also a plain blue tank top. She was solely mesmerised by the jeans – the back of them. She kept touching them, stroking the rhinestones with lovely care.

“These are so cool! Did you know I've never had and pants like this?” She asked.

“Oh, really? I guess that's different.” I smiled gently. “I particularly do not like those pants; I've only worn them once....if you want them, you can keep them. The shirt, too.”

Annabel's eyes somehow grew, her smile turning into a grin. “Really? I can have these?”

“Yes, you may.” I instantly felt her take me into her arms. She said 'thank you' very loudly, so I just told her that she was welcome. She let go of me, so I promoted myself to get up and get us two bottles of green tea. I didn't know if she liked hers warmed up, so I just heated both of ours up in a pot, mixing the two bottles together and throwing them away. I put a bit inside two porcelain cups, bringing them out to her with a tiny plate underneath.

“I hope you like this.” Annabel took a sip and grinned. You know, for someone who's older than me, she sure does act a bit childish! But it's really nice having someone here, because my boyfriend dumped me and moved out, so I've been lonely ever since.

“Lipton tea is the best. Green tea is always good for the body. It has many uses, and it's quite delicious too. Who would've thought that warmed green tea is better than when it's cold?”

At that point, she sounded more Asian than American. But she must be a mix of both. “Where are you from?”

“I am from Los Angeles, but you know, I look very Asian because my father was. My mom was from Kansas, but...it doesn't hurt when you fall in love with someone from a different culture, does it?”

“No, actually. My mother was from Poland and my father was from Germany. They got married and moved here, to start a better life from the hardships. They wanted me to have the best in life, so they raised me the best way they could – which turned out the be the best way.”

“That's really nice.” Annabel said back with a smile. She stared at me and my features, like the little brown freckles that I have and my dark brown eyes and thick, brunette coloured hair, and she concluded that I was pretty. I blushed, of course, because I thought the freckles depreciated my face...but to some, I guess I was wrong.

We talked for a long while and watched plenty of television from nine in to morning to three in the afternoon. We got to know each other fairly well and might've even became instant best friends, not like there's really a problem with that. Before she left to go back home, though, she told me that it's always great to act childish in a while. I understood what she meant. I know that it is, but I shelter myself away from those things, only so I won't permanently act that way. She changed my perspective on the rain, too.

She left with a smile on her face, a smile that I won't ever forget.

So, what did you think? I didn't want to have them kissing or anything like that because 1) They've just met, and 2) I've been writing more lesbian stories than anyone on the face of this Earth. I thought I should try something different; I don't even believe this to be "romance," but you know...whatever. because you read this makes me happy! Oh, yeah. I've posted this on my birthday, yay! And it was raining outside here in Pitt pretty bad, so...yeah. I get to spend my 16th indoors. :( Have a good day, though! :D
