Dan and I were having our usual friday nights in. We had got out as many games and dvds as possible and were about to order a pizza in. Then there was a knock on the door, which confused us since no one had rung for our apartment. Dan got up and answered the door, and I swear my heart stopped for a moment. She was standing in the doorway. Her long waved hair had been dyed a bright pink and her fringe a turquoise blue. Her bright hair framed her slightly tanned and beautiful face. I had no idea who this girl was, but I found myself lost in her deep brown eyes.

"You have no idea how long it took for me to find your apartment Dan" she said.

"Cassie!" Dan swooped her up in his arms in a hug, lifting her slightly off the ground. "What are you doing in London?"

"Well if you invite me in then maybe I can explain." She skipped past Dan and looked at me. "This must be Phil" she smiled.

"Ah yeah Cassie this is Phil, Phil this is my little sister." Dan put his arm around her.

I got up from the couch and shook her small hand, it felt warm and soft in mine. "Um its nice to meet you Cassie" I smiled nervously.

"So explain why you're here now" Dan asked while Cassie sat down on the armchair. We both took our places back on the couch and she sighed.

"Well, you know how Mum and Dad were always saying I should go into a serious job like a doctor or something like that?"

"Yes..." Dan nodded.

"Well when I finished school this year, I applied for a place in the Academy of Arts and got accepted, but I didn't tell them." She was still grinning as though she didn't care. "Until a few days ago when I told them I was moving to London. So they told me I couldn't leave but here I am"

"So do they know that you're here?" Dan asked

"Well I left home 2 days ago so I think they will have noticed that I'm gone and my room is empty". She giggled a bit. "My phone has been ringing all day. They might think I've been kidnapped or something."

Dan stared at Cassie in shock, clearly not finding it amusing. "You just left? Cass, have you even thought about this properly? I mean I'm glad you're doing what makes you happy but you're way too young to be moving so far from home. Where are you going to stay?"

She still smiled as if nothing was wrong. "I'm staying with my friends Danni and Devon. Their flat has a spare room and they said I can have it. And I know what I'm doing, I've already sent out CVs to a few places for part time jobs".

"Cassie you're only 16, I know you don't like it at home but I still think you should've stayed there. You're too young to-" Dan was interrupted by Cassie.

"I'm old enough to make my own decisions Dan." Cassie interrupted.

Dan started to speak but she waved her hand to silence him. "No Dan, I know I'm doing what's right for me. Now I'm starving, you guys had dinner yet?"

We ordered our pizza and by the time it arrived Dan seemed to have forgotten about Cassie leaving home. She even joined in with the games, managing to beat me and Dan on a few occasions. She left the room to go to the bathroom and I not so subtly whispered.

"Wow," gazing at her while she walked away.

"What?" Dan said staring at me. "Please tell me you're not thinking of my sister the way I think you are?"

"No" I lied. " I was just surprised about how alike you two are".

"Oh well good because if you did like my sister that way, then I may just have to kill you" he laughed a bit.

"Ah you're one of those over protective brothers aren't you?" I teased.

"I guess you could say that. But I'm serious though, don't go near my sister if you're thinking of her like that." I simply nodded. Even though I did really like Cassie, I could see Dan would hate the idea. I was getting way ahead of myself anyway. This was the first night I had ever met her, and I didn't even know if she felt the same way.

At that moment Cassie walked back into the living room and picked up her jacket.

"Its getting late, I should be going now" she headed towards the door.

"Wait I'll drive you home" Dan stood up and picked up his car keys from the coffee table. I stood up with him to say bye to Cassie.

"Uh it was nice meeting you Cassie" I said shyly. She surprised me and pulled me into a hug. It was only then that I realised just how small she was. She barely reached my shoulders and I felt that if I hugged her too hard, her tiny figure would break.

"It was great finally getting to meet Dan's best friend. I hope we can see each other more often" she and Dan walked out the door together and I closed it behind them. Only a minute later there was another knock on the door again, I opened it and Cassie walked in.

"Sorry I left my phone in the bathroom." She shouted.

I stood by the open door and waited for Cassie to reappear. She stood in front of me and smiled. Her brown eyes staring up at me. She then stood up on her tiptoes and pulled my head down, pressing our lips together. It caught me off guard but I immediately started to kiss her back. My hands held her waist and I pulled her closer to me. Her lips felt soft and tender against mine, and I was sure that time started to slow down in this perfect moment. She slipped something into my hand as our mouths parted.

"I'll see you later Phil" and with a little smile she went skipping down the hallway. I looked down at my hand to find a little piece of paper. In neat writing it said.

"Make sure to call me when Dan's not around."

Her number was written underneath.
