Now -that- is a most interesting start to a story. It will be interesting to see just exactly who "Jason & Co." are (I can resist asking if they got fleeced at one time). It's going to be very interesting to see how things go at such time as Harry returns to Britain and Hogwarts; I suspect much will have changed on both sides. I'll admit, I'm sad to see Hedwig killed, I rather like her, but this does leaves open the option for an interesting new familiar or familiars.
I can understand Vernon's thought processes, and I dearly hope he gets all that's due him. If the time magics of this isle are strong enough, I would hope he makes it back in time to testify against the Dursleys.
