You iknow something, I just answered my own questions. Since the trial is sealed Dumbledore would never know it happened. The Dursleys will be implanted with the memory that Harry just ran away and DD and all Harry's "friends" will accept it. You will need to deal with whatever minders were on duty that night but either an insider for the Ministry or Voldemort would do it or even leave it to Mundungus to get stunned while he was asleep to keep it close to canon.
Everyone assumes Harry ran away, Ginny and the rest give up on him, maybe even get married in the intervening 10 years. They will be in their mid twenties when Harry gets out. It would only be when someone stumbles across Harry's release records that the Order will realize what happened. It might be fun to have Rita Skeeter be the one to find the records and break the story!

Thank you for the input! I'll admit, I took some of your suggestions and built on them for a few of the plot holes I was struggling with. I'm sure you can see them in chapter two. :)
