Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

A nice chapter. It was slow moving but that fits in with the overall atmosphere and feel of this story, which (as far as I can tell) is about self-discovery rather than any particular chain of events. In that, the selection of Daphne for a partner (not necessarily romantic but certainly a closer and closer friend) is ideal. Like Harry, she was intended to be a role, not a person. Harry has broken away and is trying to find his own path - perhaps he can help Daphne do the same.

It would be nice if Hermione were to convince Ron to defy Molly and rediscover his friendship with Harry. Okay, angering Molly is a dangerous and frightening thing to do but, damn it, he is a Gryffindor, isn't he? ;-)

I also hope for Daphne to put on a public show in the Great Hall (something reminiscent of Pansy's show in Jeconais' White Knight, Grey Queen ). At the end of the show, Daphne turns to a bright purple Ginny and says: "That's what you threw away, Betrayer. Hurts when you realise that you can only blame yourself, doesn't it?"

Of course, that could lead to a Ginny/Draco team up (with Ginny in the lead, of course). When Molly finds out about /that/, our heroes need merely conjour some popcorn and enjoy the show.

I always look forward to seeing more of your stories.

Author's response

- Slow is what I'm aiming for. I won't say there will be no action scenes, but what I'm looking to do is tell the story of a Harry who doesn't need to fight anymore. He's looking to expand his circle of friends so that a falling out with a manipulative bastard could never leave him high and dry again. (and maybe have a little fun that doesn't have much chance of landing him into Poppy's clutches)

- The Ron/Hermione dynamic is going to change soon

- I don't see a person as private as Daphne making a public display on any topic, much less love. I'm also not planning on taking their relationship that far anytime soon.

- Ginny is fairly inconsequential to the story now and will become completely inconsequential in a couple of chapters.

- Draco has been an ass for the entire series, but he hasn't really done anything that would cause him to deserve Ginny. Show some humanity!
