I was surprised that you were so upset by the reviews. I did not read anything that was mean-spirited. Of course your friends tell you your story is wonderful. What do you expect? If all you want is for people to tell you how great you are then don't be writer for free or for pay. If you want to improve your writing, then pay attention to what people who don't know you are saying. They aren't trying to hurt you; they're trying to help you. If you really want to improve your writing, throw away the box of Kleenex and strive to improve.
