Review for The Name of Love

The Name of Love

This is wonderful! One of the most interesting/refreshing stories I've read in a long time.

The writing crisp, the pacing smooth, and the ambiance...ahh the ambiance.

I'm not sure whether "gritty" is the proper term. Meaty? Real? With substance?

I love how the scene changes with every chapter. More, I love how the mood changes with the scene changes. This is such a pleasure to read (and review!)

I enjoy the asides and the descriptions are just right (in that way that is so hard to achieve, but is recognizable immediately when it's there).

One thing -- four minor things actually -- I noticed several small mistakes/typos but given the overall quality of the work, these few were enough to snag my attention and pull me out of the story slightly.

One: eluded (alluded) to an extensive family
Two: on the lamb (lam)
Three: Oh, where (were) they tempting
Four: snuggly (snugly)

Going back to the fic proper, this is going to sound strange considering how many good lines there are, but I especially enjoyed this line:
"...wanted to know what the other shoe was going to be when it dropped."

It's a familiar phrase, and you managed to add your own twist to it while still keeping the phrase recognizable.

By the way, that pretty much sums up how I feel about the storytelling thus far. The words used are familiar everyday words, everything just flows neatly from one sentence/paragraph/scene to the next, and I'm so completely absorbed in reading that I barely even notice that I'm reading. But while it's a comfortable read, there are subtle twists and at no point do I feel that I've read the same thing before.

Must stop talking. I'm actually in the middle of the chapter right now. I was (unwillingly) pulled out of the story, as I mentioned before, and I decided I might as well take a short break and write this. Need to get back to reading: guy with British accent has just come in -- looks like something exciting is about to happen!

Author's response

I... wow. Consider me speechless and flattered! I really didn't think this silly story was any of that, but this is possibly the nicest thing to wake up to ever. Thank you for picking out those silly typos. I'll run and fix them asap!

Again, thank you SO much. This made my day! :D
