Great story, I quite like it, and am looking forward to reading more.

I posted this review more to answer loonage's question on the mechanism of rating.

As to the ratings, as near as I can tell, when the second chapter is posted the story gains a table of contents. I'm not sure how the story IDs work out there (obviously a new ID is created, but I'm not sure if it's for the table of contents or the first chapter), but both the table and the first chapter appear to end up with the same rating. From then on, the table of contents has no link to rate the story as a whole.

So, you may be wondering how the rating improved to a one recently? It turns out that for rating an individual chapter, or a one-shot story, the "Rate this story" link is the same URL as the chapter itself, with "/rate" at the end... and that if you go into the address bar and add that yourself, you can rate a whole story from the table of contents.

Hopefully the site admins will be more inclined to add a "Rate this story" link to the table of contents pages than to prevent the /rate link from working in this fashion. And I hope this answers loonage's question.
