Naah, you haven't failed as a writer. I see two groups working at cross-purposes getting in each other's way. Now if they DO ever start working together things will get messy.
But can't you just see a scene like, "I am Lord Voldemort! Bow before me!"
"I am Victor von Doom -- I bow to no one!" FRRZAAAAP!
