Yes, I can quite see that and likely with some magical consulting work, of some sort, on the side (going from experience, here, having watched my own mother do precisely that - her degree was in chemistry and she worked in the industry up until I came along; then took evening classes in Russian and spent her spare time translating and abstracting Russian chemical articles for /chemical Abstracts/).
