Wow, this is utterly fantastic! You set the mood wonderfully, and the whole fic comes across raw, gritty, and brutal. I've seen people try to glamorize the Turks, and it ain't pretty--this is a great piece of tellin' it how it is. Love your style!
The only thing I can think of to criticize is the paragraph lengths. This story has a bunch of very short, choppy paragraphs, which does add to the gritty atmosphere, but it might tighten up the piece to consolidate a few of them into longer paragraphs. A short, one-sentence paragraph has serious impact, but if too many of them happen in a row, they start to lose that pound-the-point-home feeling.
