siledubhghlase: Yes, HPD is the movie where Eastwood takes over the town and has them paint the town red. Liberty Valance has Stewart as a would-be lawyer working as a waiter and Coburn as the town bully (except to Wayne whom nobody bullied). Coburn shows that people have to band together to stop bullies (although the townspeople don't, just as magical Britain refuses to). Lots of other media references throughout the fic. And yes, I am making some of the symbolism blatent, as that's about the only thing that gets through to wizards. The boys moon Moody because they're teen boys. Harry has them do it to show who is controlling Hogwarts, but the adults just don't get it.

The watchers were attracted in part by Harry-as-Harry and in part because the Order and Malfoy's goons were watching Harry. The technomages are only 'underground' in Europe and a few other places, in most of the world they are pushing the fringes of the secrecy statutes and public beliefs. Remus knows about them because he's travelled around a bit and is interested in any sort of magic. (As opposed to Sirius, who only cared about looking at women while aborad. Hermione would pick up on them only if she had recently travelled to places like the US or Australia)
