Well, I knew Harry had to be doing some sort of time travel (if he was the Shadow). But the simple wand misdirection fooled me too. I was thinking of more complex arrangements, like the Harry who gave the vow being the 'first' Harry who hadn't yet gone back in time to do the deed, and so he could say that he had 'nothing to do with it'.
I have no idea who Doug and Dinsdale are. Something American?
