Quite an interesting start, and a characterisation of Sybill Trelawney that I haven't seen before, complete with a rationale for her canon image. Well done.
This chapter is the pivot-point for the divergence from the canon timestream; the next will establish the vector of departure. We'll see then where you go from here. From what I see so far, I'm optimistic: clear writing style and natural handling of characters hints that some real thinking will go into this. Can't wait. I'm adding this one to my fetcher list right now.
