I'm sorry but after reading and thinking about this chapter for a couple of days, I feel compelled to say that rape is most certainly NOT legal in marriage. I don't know how it is in Ireland you guys, but here in the U.S,where this story is set, we don't allow that horrible fuckery.

I suppose she was speaking of the thirties, (duh moment), but now days, that bull is not tolerated.

Up until the nineteen sixties,rape was legal in marriage in the US,as well as most other places,including Ireland.

I'm sorry I sound like such a bitch!Obviously Lornaigh does not condone rape of any sort but she had a sheet of information which she worte from,including jistory and stuff,and one of the categories was "law & order"...

I think I many publish that.

Yes.Rape is one of the most offensive and disgusting methods of degrading someone.It is not tolerable and we should not tolerate it.
