its a great story (: yeah with the cutting thing, i think its quite 'oh im sad so im gunna cut' and well that kinda is what it is, but well in my experience, i feel kinda depressed for a while before and then after i cut everything feels better for a while. god i really hope my friend isnt reading this :S
so maybe you could fore shadow it with a climax and make the character seem a bit more relaxed afterwards.
