And yes, I was totally not expecting it to take so many words to get this far -- 1990-1991 was supposed to be a prequel year, with only two time travelers, do a little dramatic business with the basilisk and set things up for the next year, then move on to the real story. That was the plan, which I completely and utterly did not follow. :P
I have about the next 10k words written, but it's one of those stretches where I can't write perfectly linearly and do one chapter at a time.
