Try a Shawshank Redemption thing, that's normally effective. "I remember the first time I saw Frankie. Standing sticking out like a sore black thumb amongst all the blonde and orange of the school.' I dunno, something like that. I like to start with a description of the setting or one of the characters yelling at another.
