The Dursleys have proven that thy are boned any chances of redemption Petunia had a chances there fore a moment but rejected it. They are pore selfishness.

I'd say that was correct. From what we've seen, the Dursleys have proven that they don't deserve any chance of redemption. The problem with that is that there is PLENTY that we do not see. From what was shown in the books, it's very easy and accurate to say that they are scum. They emotionally/mentally abused and neglected a child--something that is truly inexcusable. But WHY? WHY did they become such unpleasant people? WHY did Petunia act in such a way but showed slight remorseful at the end of the series? There is a LOT that can be done with them than just condemning them like I've seen so many people do.
