Independence Day

This is a great start! Normally,
'Isolated Harry' stories are pretty much formulaic, with the only variations being in the specifics. So far, in these first two chapters, you have introduced several interesting twists. Harry's discovery of his imprisonment by Dumbles is par for the course, but his subsequent finding and then using his father's Auror manuals to eliminate the tracking charms, is not. His slytherin side is peeking out, and, of course, the BEST ship! Harry and his beautiful brown-eyed girl, Hermione. (I don't care what's in book sux! Thbbbbbtttt!)
It's interesting, but I use the relaxation/meditation technique you described in the second chaper. I teach it to my daughter as well.
Some may see your version of Hermione as OoC, but I think that for a fifteen year old girl(or sixteen, if one follows HAP), she's just right. No teenager should be as staid as canon Hermione is!
I have placed this on my 'alerts' list, and hope to read more soon.
