This is a good start. What caught my eye was the author note at the beginning. I hope you can make sure that Voldemort follows through with the basic evil overlord creedo. ;-) Just be sure that there aren't any sharks with laser beams.
Personally, 'ship wise, why not both Hermione and Cho. Not at the same time though. Cho, to me, is really Harry's "training ground". He could use Hermione as a trainer (er, ask her for advice about girls) and still fail miserably with a crying Cho. Harry isn't all that stupid, but would he ever figure out that Hermione has been training Harry how to be her boyfriend? Very Slytherin like planning, I should think...

Thanks for reading and reviewing. As for the author's note, LOL! I am a firm believer in the evil overlords' list. I will try to follow it as much as possible.
Your suggestion about both Hermione and Cho is extremely interesting and insightful, but I am not sure I can pull it off. Writing romances is not my strong point, in any case. Thanks for the suggestion though - I will see if it can be worked into the story.
