Review for Harry's Second Chance

Harry's Second Chance

Just about chapter 11 again - which I read a couple of times - how nice I thought it was to read of a 'relaxed' Hermione. The two kids 'playing like seals' (however it was phrased) - very nice.

Did I miss something? Was there a real chance that Dumbledore and Lupin could have captured or destroyed Riddle's essence with their hexes as he fled? Harry and his cohorts seem to have been planning a much longer campaign, looking for the sixth horcrux, etcetera, but if they could have destroyed - or, given a horcrux still exists, even captured Tom - then all the heat would have been off them, and they could have sought the final horcrux at their leisure. But this possibility was never mentioned.

I was just surprised by the last page where 'a spell just missed his essence'. I reads as if Voldemort was in real jeopardy; yet I don't recall our heroes plotting "let's capture Voldemort, put him in a bottle and then we can have a feast and spend the next decade leisurely looking for the last horcrux before we destroy him for good".

Wondering what Hermione's reaction will be to Harry's first stay in the Infirmary. Did Harry expect to be knocked out this time around?

Good storting; in particular Draco's selection, quite clever!

Author's response

It was more an opportunity they had over-looked and therefore had to improvise (so I didn't make much of it). Since Harry wasn't really hurt, it didn't bother Hermione enough to mention.

Glad you liked Draco's Sorting.
