It’s interesting that you have Harry be angry at Ron for being bigoted concerning the blind and more likely than not, end any hopes of a friendship. But you have Harry try to reconcile and be friends with Draco even though he made an overtly bigoted statement concerning blood purity. Whereas Ron’s comments were made out of his own lack of observation (he is dense), Draco’s comments were a conscious decision on his point, whether or not he was raised to believe that was true.
In this story, you even tried to make Draco less of a bigot by omitting his comments about Hagrid in Madam Malkin’s. But you went and introduced the term mudblood in the story (something that wasn’t used until the second book in cannon). Harry and Hermione wouldn’t know what it meant, but Neville would have and he would have made some sort of reaction. Above and beyond the bigoted term, Draco went on to explain to an extent his views on blood purity and how it affected someone’s social standing.
I’m not a big fan of Ron, I tend to think of him as an overrated sidekick (both in cannon and fan fic), but I have never liked Draco. In cannon, I see him as a conniving, unscrupulous, bigot with an agenda. I have never understood why a number of people argue that he is just misunderstood.
You do have a very interesting and original story, and I like how you portray most of you characters so far (including Ron), I just disagree with how you had Harry react to Draco. - Shawn
