Dirty Secrets

Everyone has a dirty secret
A little black and white lie
Obscured from the naked eye.
A small untruth that refuses to lie down and die.

It must never be uttered
But kept quietly shuttered
Always keep it buried within
For fear it unveil a deadly sin

Should it ever be discovered,
and the stain uncovered.
The secret will be dragged back down
Without a sound
Where inside it will again be bound.

But like poison from a spout
The truth always comes pouring out.
It cannot be hid
No matter how elaborate the lid

Like a viper it will slither and bite
The false fantasy will vanish like the night
Then it will be a difficult fight
to set everything right...
