The Ballad of the Lost Soul

by MyNomDePlume 1 review

Inspired by Moonlight Sonata, the only piece of classical music I actually enjoy. :)

Her elegant figure dances through the night
Twirling in a downward spiral
A lone star, falling from grace
Leaving behind her imperfections
To be discovered by another
Only to have their worth forgotten

Dear and close shall lament
And ponder her verdict
But she continues her descent
Longing for the acceptance
Her callow mind hid from view
While coveting the world’s attention

Yet her face shall be forgotten
And her name all but fade away
Known only as the girl
Who couldn’t grasp joy
Never content with her portion
Always wanting more

So she falls
Ever so nimbly
Towards the unforgiving sea
Waiting for the rolling waves
To swallow her balletic form
Yearning for the inevitable

Words form on her delicate lips
A closing resolution
So simple the utterance
Yet deep as the ocean
Lapping up to greet her

The declaration of sincerity
Never before to leave those lips
Her pride refused them passage
With her precious final moments
She concludes to the world
“I love you”

So... What did y'all think? I'd love to hear your opinions. :) xoxo Liz
