Just as Saff had expected, Jade had already left for work when she got back, the puppies were all in the box, crawling around and squeaking everynow and then. They were around two weeks old now, their eyes were opening. She sighed and picked up number one, then there was a knock on the door,
“sorry pooch, someonesa callin’” she put her back down and went to open the door,
“hi, we’re here about the puppies?” a woman with a young boy were stood at the door, Saff smiled,
“hi, i’m Saff, come on in, i’ll show you where the puppies are” she took the two people to her bedroom and opened the box,
“awe, look at them, they’re all so cute” the mum said, Saff chuckled,
“yep, but the big one and this little one here-” she picked number one up, “aren’t for sale” the woman nodded,
“ah, i can see why, go on Ross, pick a puppy” the boy, he must have been around eleven, looked at Saff,
“which ones are boys?” Saff picked number two, the only boy other than Butch.
“This one right here” she let the boy hold the little puppy. After half an hour of explaining about the puppy is still suckling etc. Then she gained £50 and made a sale. Other than Butch, number one, three and five were left. She planned to sell them all, one and Butch last though. She took number one,
“I feel like i should name you something…. Blossom. Your name is now Blossom.” Saff snuggled with the little puppy on her bed, “Oh Blossom what have i done?” She sat up, wiped tears from her cheeks and pulled her hair into a high ponytail before standing up, putting Blossom back, she went straight to Butch.
The water stung her skin at first and then her body adjusted to the temperature. Water seperated each strand of hair down her back and the rest of her mascara ran down her face.
“He, left no time, to regret, kept his dick wet, with his same old safe bet, me and my head high, and my tears dry, get on without my guy… You went back to what you knew, so far from all that we went through, and i tred a troubled track, my odds are stacked, and i’ll go back to black…” she shampooed her hair, “we only said goodbye with words, i died a hundred times, you go back to her and i go back to… I go to back to us.”
The weekend was the longest two days Saff could remember. Everything went so slowly, they sold number five and Jade took Butch and Blossom to have their injections so they didn’t get ill when Saff would eventually start walking them.
“Come on, get up” Jade said, opening Saff’s curtains. Saff grumbled and pulled the sheets over her face, Jade sighed and sat on the edge of her bed, “Saffy, you can’t hide forever”
“i’ll bloody try” Saff replied, her voice muffled. Her friend rolled her eyes,
“it was one night, neither of you remember what happenened, for all you know, nothing might have happened” Saff threw the covers back, glaring at Jade,
“yes, and the chances of that are?” she stood up and went over to her wardrobe, pulling out a pair of jeans and a grey jumper that had minnie mouse on it. She got changed and done her usual hair and make up routine, deciding to pull her hair into a ponytail then sighing and pulling it out again. She’d been like this all weekend. Indecisive. Jade made a fuss of the puppies before she left. Saff gave them some water and food, they’d made a little pen for them in the living room and put newspaper down.
“Today’s going to be… Fun” she grumbled to herself as she shut the front door.
