Chapter Forty Six - Stupid Ideas

Acid woke up, her head was burried in Curse's chest, both of them still fully clothed from the day before.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes, remembering everyhing that'd happened the previous day.
She felt her heart sink. She'd killed someone again.
"Ace? You awake?" She heard Curse's sleepy voice say.
"Yeah, I am."
He sat up and put an arm around her. "You okay?"
"The truth or a lie to make you feel better?"
"The truth."
"I . . . I fell like a fucking monster. Before you try to make me feel better about this, don't. I'm fucking sick of hearing people tell me that I'm not a monster, I'm sick of people feeling sorry me."
"Ace . . . I won't repeat myself because I know you don't want me to, but everything I've said to you before, that still stands. And what you did yesterday . . . it was self defense, but I know you probably see it as cold blooded murder."
"You're right, I do feel that way about it. Maybe I should've just let him fucking kill me."
Curse started to get a little angry. "Listen to me, don't you fucking dare ever say that again. Do you even realize what you just said? What about Bandit? You dying would hurt her so fucking much. Are you telling me you want to hurt her that fucking deeply?"
"Of course I don't, Curse, she's my daughter. The last I ever want to hurt her."
"Then do you know what you'll do? If you're ever in a situation like you were yesterday, you'll defend yourself. You'll fight to be alive if not for yourself, but for Bandit, okay? Promise me that."
She nodded. "Fine."
"Good."

Ghoul and Jet were outside, talking when someone caught Ghoul's attention. Violet and Storm were talking on the hood of their car, Violet happily laughed every now and then. He still had a thing for Violet Silhouette just like Jet had a thing for Shattered Light, but Ghoul and Jet hadn't said anything about their feelings for the Killjoys who'd not been at the diner for very long.
"Who you staring at? Violet or Storm?"
Ghoul snapped out of his train of thought and looked at Jet.
"W-what? I wasn't staring at anyone." He lied.
Jet smiled. "It's Violet, isn't it?"
Ghoul sighed. "Maybe."
"You should ask her out."
He wanted to, he really did, but there was one thing, or rather person, who mentally stopped him whenever he wanted to ask someone out. Lo.
"Jet . . . I can't."
"Why not? She's seems like a nice girl, she seems like your type and she's cute."
"That's not it, I just . . . I can't ask her out."
Suddenly, it made sense to Jet. It was Lo. It'd always been Lo. Even though it'd been five years, he still wanted to wait for her.
"Ghoul . . . I hate to say it, but . . . It's been five years, I don't think she's coming back."
Ghoul nodded. "I know that. I knew that after she'd not come back after one year, but . . . I just loved her. I loved her a lot and I thought we'd have a life together. I guess you could say I've really struggled to forget that."
Jet understood, he felt the same way about Jessey sometimes. However, he knew that she wouldn't want him to waste his life on mourning her death, on wondering what could've been.
"She wouldn't want you to be like this, she'd want you to be happy."
"I know she would. "
"Then ask her out. Don't tell her I told you this, but Light told me she has a crush on you."
He couldn't help but let a goofy grin spread across his face. "Really?"
"Yup, really."
"By the way, is something going on between you and Light?"
He paused. "Not yet, but I like her."
He smiled. "Ask her out then."
"I will . . . eventually."
Ghoul laughed a little.

"Daddy, when can I see mommy?" Bandit asked her father for the millionth time.
"I don't know, baby. I know that mommy isn't feeling too good right now." Poison thought that Acid wouldn't want Bandit to see her in the state that she was in, so he tried to delay Bandit from seeing her.
"Does mommy not wanna see me no more?"
"Of course she does, she loves you, Bandy. It's just . . . she's not feeling very good."
"I make her better if I can see her!"
He smiled and kissed her cheek.
"So can I see her?"
"Not yet. You can soon though, I promise." He said.
"Okay. Can I play with Lacie and Jeremy? They outside."
"Sure you can, B. Your uncle Jet and uncle Ghoul are watching you all."
"Okay daddy!"
She ran to go play with her cousins outside.
Poison decided to check on Acid. Last time he saw her, she'd been crying her eyes out. He knew she'd calmed down since then, but he just wanted to make sure that she was feeling at least a little bit better.
He knew that she was in the guest room with Curse, so he walked over to the door. He was about to open it when he heard them both talking.
" . . . that's how you feel. You can't change it and I don't expect you to, I just want you to realize that you're important to a lot fo people here, Ace. We all care about you."
"I know that. I just can't help it sometimes."
"I know. Bandit cares about you a lot and you already know how I feel."
"I do."
"C'mere." Poison could see them through a small crack in the door. He felt kind of creepy looking at them through a small crack in the door, but he didn't want to inturpt them either.
Poison saw Curse pull Acid into a hug, which lasted for a while, but when Curse pulled away, he gently kissed his lips to hers.
Were his eyes decieving him or was Curse really kissing Acid? He didn't know what to think, but he couldn't help but notice that she wasn't pulling away or freaking out. She looked like she was contributing to their kiss.
He pulled away and pressed their foreheads together. "Don't forget we all care, okay?"
She nodded and kissed his cheek, then rested her head on his shoulder.
Poison was just frozen. He didn't know what to do or what to think, but he eventually gathered the courage to knock on the door and open it.
"Hey, um Bandit wants to see you, but I didn't know if you wanted to see her while you were still upset."
She nodded. "Thanks, Poison. If she wants, she can come see me. I'm calmer than I was now."
He nodded. "Let me know if you need anything." He said.
She smiled slightly and nodded. "Thankyou."
He smiled then left.
Curse and Acid just stayed in their place for a while.
Thoughts were still swirling in Acid's mind. She almost couldn't believe that Better Living were still after her even though she'd been missing for at least a few months now. Was she really that important to them? Then again, she knew she'd killed a lot of people for them, of course they still wanted her inorder for her to do all of their dirty work.
Then she had an idea. What if she went back to them? Obviously, they wouldn't know that the chip had been removed if she acted like she was still their puppet. She could say that she'd met an important Killjoy in the Zones who had plans to take down Better Living. She could tell them that she didn't have all the information yet, that they were hard to get information out of and she needed more time with them. That way, she could get them to stop searching for her and her family wouldn't be in danger because of them looking for her. She'd also know Better Living's plans and ideas, she could tell the other Killjoys and they could help plot against them.
"I've got an idea."
"What is it?"
"I already know you won't like it."
"What is it?" He repeated, he already didn't like the sound of her idea simply because she thought he wouldn't like it.
"It's important. I think I should tell everyone, but not while the kids are around. Maybe later tonight or something when they're sleeping."
"Um . . . okay, whatever you want to do is fine."
She nodded and smiled.

Later that night, they gathered everyone while the kids were sleeping.
Kobra's arm was wrapped around Static's shoulders while Ghoul was comfortably sitting net to Violet.
"So . . . I have an idea. What happened before, the guys said that Better Living were still looking for me. They still want me to be their fucking puppet. Obviously, because they're looking for me, it's putting all of you in danger. I think . . . I think it'd be easier if . . . well . . . how do you feel about letting me go back to Better Living?"
Curse's eyes were almost jumping out of his sockets. "Ace?! What the fuck?!"
"What do you mean go back?" Poison wondered.
"If I go back, they'll stop searching for all of you. You'll all be safe."
"But what about you? You need to be safe too." Ghoul stated.
She nodded. "I know and I've thought of that, but they have no way of knowing if I still have the chip in the back of my neck. From what I remember, they've never done any check-ups on me to make sure that it's still in there. So, they won't know that they need to put one back in. I'll explain to them why I've been away for so long. I met a Killjoy with extremely important information, but they're very cautious and it takes a lot to gain their trust so I need to spend more time with them to get as much information as I can get. That way, they won't make me go on another mission or kill anyone else. I'll have to go back every now and then so they know I'm okay, but it's better than putting you all in danger. So . . . what do you all think?"
"No. You're not doing that, it's too fucking dangerous." Curse said the moment she'd finished pitching her idea to everyone.
"Curse-"
"No, don't 'Curse' me. It's dangerous for you, what if they figure something out? What if they realize that you're lying? They'll probably fucking kill you, Ace. It's too fuckin' dangerous."
"I was asking what you think of the idea, not for your permission to do it, Curse."
"You're not going. It's too risky and it' too fucking dangerous." He sounded irritated. Really irritated.
"Ace . . . it's a good idea, but . . . are you sure that they never checked up on you? I mean, I know you said you remembered some of it, but what if they did actually check and you just don't remember?" Ghoul said.
"Exactly." Curse agreed.
"I remember somethings, I don't remember others. But, I'm about ninty seven percent sure they won't."
"'S not good enough, there's still a fucking three percent chance." Curse's arms were crossed.
"Curse, you're really starting to fucking irritate me. I'm only trying to help and you're fucking pointing holes in it."
"Because it's not safe!"
"Curse, you can't control her. If she wants to go, I don't see why she shouldn't. Besides, if they have any major plans, we'll know about them. We might even be able to help take down Better Living for good." Poison stood up for her.
"It's easy for you to say, you've been a fucking asshole to her ever since she got back here. You don't care about her and you don't care about the fact that she possibley be killed there if something went wrong."
"You really don't know what you're talking about." Poison said to him.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You've known her for a few months maxium, Curse. I was fucking married to her, I know that when she has her heart set on something, she'll do it whether you want her to or not. She's stubborn as fuck and she's not going to budge on this one, so I say if she really wants to do this and she's sure that nothing'll happen to her, let her do it."
"Are you crazy? She could be killed. Killed, Poison. Even if you don't give a shit whether she lives or dies, what about Bandit? She loves her and you know it'd hurt her if Ace died."
"Curse, she's not stupid. She wouldn't go off and do something dangerous if she knew or atleast had an idea of what she was going to do. You don't know her like I do."
"Why do you even care all of a sudden Poison? You've been an asshole to her and now you're suddenly her best friend."
"Don't try to change the subject."
"I'm not, I'm just saying that-"
"Will both of you shut the fuck up?" Violet ordered the two arguing men. "Look, I don't know her that well, but I've heard a fucking lot about her and I agree with Poison." Curse was about to argue back, but she cut him off. "She's smart and she knows what she's doing. If she can help take down Better Living, I say let her do it."
"I'm gonna do it, Curse. If you agree with me, great. If you don't then it doesn't change anything. I'm still going and I'm gonna help."
"I just . . . fuck, this sounds stupid, but . . . I don't wanna lose you. None of us do, Ace."
"I know and I promise you I know what I'm gonna do. I'm not the smartest person on the planet, but I ain't that dumb either. I'll be fine." She promised him.
Poison looked at the two of them. He could see that they cared for eachother and in a way, it upset him. He knew he had Pheonix and he could see her whenever he wanted. Why was it annoying him so much? Did he still have feelings for her? He didn't know and he didn't want to know if he still had feelings for her. It was simpler when he didn't have feelings for her . . . wasn't it?
