If you tried to draw a startled breath, you couldn't. If you tried to choke out a startled scream, you really couldn't. If you tried to contemplate the situation, and try to believe that it was real, well that was verging on the borders of impossible. A few hours ago, a train had sped by, straight over a careless, but unfortunate young man. Now his mangled body lay in the centre of the tracks, and every eye was watching.
A reporter, Adele Granger, stood stiff, unable to gasp in shock. The train that had came by was empty.
I'm sure there was no driver in there, she thought, the train practically came to life!
And as she tried to understand how, an icy breeze gripped her and she couldn't breathe. A horrid, raspy voice whispered in her ear,
