Bone-digger, bone-digger

A run-up, a chase in the dusk
yell "wait!" in the rain, on the street
pretend that you're not out of breath, if you must
but I find it endearingly sweet
The umbrella is long since gone
tumbling away down the street
well, it looks like the weather finally won
in the night, at half past three
How rain can be silent and loud
at the same time, puzzles me so
it needs help to get the messages out
so tell me something I don't know
