I know what you want to hear, so I bring myself to say it. I swallow my pride and tell you a lie; openly, to your face. Now, I don't understand, I feel so alone. But this loneliness, will pay off.

She looks into your eyes
Mentally pleading
That you'll say
What she wants to hear,
Needs to hear
But you just stay silent
Debating this situation
Over and over again
In your head

"You're my friend"
That was never what
You really wanted to say
But it just seemed better
This way
