DEMOCRACY R.I.P.

I held a minute's silence
For democracy R.I.P.
In the distance crowds were violent
Surrounding every embassy
I stepped over the corpse of principle
As Big Ben spoke Chinese
Which interrupted my silent tribute
For democracy R.I.P.

In Parliament Square I laid a wreath
For democracy R.I.P.
Vomit and blood dried on my teeth
As I tried to make a speech
The rain seeped through my overcoat
Lightening flashed with frequency
And washed away what did remain
Of our late democracy.

In cathedral ruins I sang an elegy
For democracy R.I.P
But nobody was listening
And I ran out of energy
Am I a heretic?
In this shell suit supremacy?
Who were buried alive by ignorance?
By pretending it was apathy?

I hollowed out the soil
For democracy R.I.P.
A sack that stank of lime and death
Remained to be buried
A Priest performed the last rites
With little sympathy
The only mourner was a rainbow...

Little orphaned bureaucracy....
