A quiet day of pondering. Good for soldiers to rest their minds, after many days of fighting or nerve racking silence. But traveling to the frontlines? Probably not helpful.

The winter appears to be staying, for a while. At least the snow only falls lightly. No one has gotten trench foot yet. We are lucky for that. But bad news did come. I will be going to the frontlines for a week. I currently write while walking, and I take breaks because I must climb. It is tiring, and I can hardly understand how supplies are transported. They must take weeks to get to us. At least the Austrians must deal with this. Better for both sides to suffer than just us. But who suffers more? That, I do not know.
