Watari Yutaka stretched, feeling his vertebrae realign themselves. When he was alive, he'd never imagined the dead getting back aches, but in reality, three hours hunched over a microscope could still make his muscles threaten rebellion.

He yawned, making his way to his room. His lab coat landed on a chair, the rest of his clothes on the floor. Half asleep, he pulled back his thick comforter...

...and nearly yelped at the dead mouse on his pillow.

From her perch, 003 hooted cheerfully at him.

He smiled weakly at her. "Ah...thank you for the lovely present. Very thoughtful. Really."
