It didn't matter that Arthur grew frostier each time Minerva saw him. She was neither concerned about the rotten fruit he had sent her via a borrowed owl, nor the fact that Arthur denied knowing anything about said fruit when Minerva casually brought it up. It did not even bother the headmistress that Molly's children could never quite meet her eyes as they hurried past her in the halls of the Burrow or Hogwarts.
Yes, Minerva knew that it was technically wrong to carry on so, but she and Molly had offered to include Arthur.
He had simply said, "No."
