"She Found Herself Alone"

Nothing was what it seemed,
And everything was what it wasn't,
She couldn't believe what had happened,
Not that it mattered anymore,
She built up her wall around her,
Strong and imposing,
Never will she let anyone in again,
Not after what happened the time before,
And the time before that,
How could fate be so cruel,
To take away the ones she loved,
What did she do wrong,
What could she have done to be been better,
Doubt swam in her head,
One thought bleeding into the next,
She couldn't remember the last time she felt safe,
Safe from the world and what it held,
Safe from herself,
Her dreams were the nightmares,
Lurking in the dark corners of her mind,
There sting brought the harsh truth of reality,
She could believe in nobody,
She was lost to the world of darkness,
The mask she so brilliantly showed the world,
Tight in place,
Throw a fake smile here, a light flutter of laughter there,
No one would ever be the wiser,
She couldn't trust a soul with her secrets,
Secrets that slowly strangled the life from her,
What she wouldn't give to be normal,
What she wouldn't give to be sane,
Pretending to have friends,
Living within all the lies of her own making,
She created a wall keep others out,
But ended up caging herself in,
No one was there to help her anymore,
No one cared,
And in her neediest moment,
She found herself alone.
