INIQUITOUS
iniquitous means immoral, sinful,
and wicked. It is loosely connected to
something abhorred or considered detestable.
And so the bell tolls,
tolling for love.
Out the sound rolls,
calling to me.
The crying of souls.
That sad, bittersweet sound
that the death bell rings.
Sorrow and mourning are
all that it brings.
Reaching out to it,
my hand draws near.
Facing down death,
but never quite clear.
And I sit here now,
trying to hear
the noise of the night
above the tolling
that I so fear.
