There's not much about Summerlin high that Brendon could say is different to any other school he's been to.
Of course theirs different teachers and students.
But it's always the same type of social groups or 'cliques'.

Take the 'jocks' for example.
Still the same lame-brained , vain and self-centered 'pretty' boy who's captain of the football team,
with his other football-obsessed followers, who are as just as in love with themselves.

Then there is the slutty girls. You know- the ones on the cheerleading team who seem to be exact clones of each other.
And they all follow the same 'Queen bee' leader, the typical pretty girl with the hot body and size E jugs. Apart from here
they go by the name 'the Ally cats.' given to them because of their leader Alison Vielle, and due to their erm, cat-like qualities
he supposes. Maybe because their fickle? Or can also be described as ''minxes''. Or maybe because they just have long pointy
talons for nails.

There are also skaters, punks, goths,emo-kids, nerds and the dread-locked druggies who live in detention and spend most of their
free time smoking pot.

There are the odd number of social outcasts aswell.
Like Susan and Judy , the best friends who are ignored by everyone else just because they're not particulalry bright
and they're a bit on the large side.

Or Kevin McGracker, a small weedy kid who has a B.O problem.
Does anyone ever offer him advice or a spray of their lynx? No, he's just expected to wander alone by himself wondering
what's so terrible about him that he has no friends.

Then there's 'the rest'.
The people who don't fit into a particular social group.
The clusters of friends , each with a different style or hobby.

Brendon guessed he fitted into this group.
He wasn't an outcast, or a part of the football team.
But he was cool, and he was liked.

He liked that. Liked the fact that he got on with practically everyone in the school.
He didn't have a small group of friends that he permanantly hung around with.
He would wonder freely around them all. He had close friends, then just his friends,
and then just some 'aqaintances'.

Everybody liked Brendon Urie, even if he had only been at Summerlin high for a few months.

The guys respected him, and the girls adored him.

Even the teachers liked him, despite the fact he was cheeky in class and rarely handed his homework
in on time.

He was cool, he was funny and most of all, he was just nice.

Nice enough to have put his arms around Susan and Judy at lunch times and have a quick chat.

Nice enough to let Kevin borrow his homework notes, and some deoderant at the same time.

He liked at how a gesture so small could make such a difference.
How Susan and Judy's faces would light up everytime they saw him coming.
How they had someone to talk to apart from each other for once.

How Kevin now gets the hint that he had bad body odour and is starting to
hang out with the nerds after extra showers and spraying himself crazy with
deoderant.

This was the third high school Brendon had been too, and no, there wasn't much different about it at all.

Apart from her.

Her name is Madison.
And he's never encountered anyone quite like her before.

He knew she was different ever scince he set eyes on her on his first day at Summerlin,
when his friend Brent had been showing him around.

They were on the field, Brent was explaining to him who Velma Hash was (''Do NOT get on her bad side'')
when Brendon saw her exit the door with her friends.

She caught his eye immediately and Brent's voice droned out.

She was beautfiul.
Her long blonde hair bounced around her shoulders in curls, held up by a red and white striped hair tye.
Her skin was pale and flawless and her eyes were large and amber-orange.
She wore a red and white vertical striped corset dress with white underlace to match that of her hair tye.
Her neck was adorned with a string of pearls, and on her feet she wore red heels.

She was so petite and fragile looking that she almost looked a like a porcelein doll that was meant to be
on display behind some glass panel or something.

Brendon was snapped out of his trance when Brent started waving a hand up and down infront of his face.

'Brendon buddy, you there?'
'Oh, er-yeah. Brent...who's that?'

Brent looked towards where Brendon was staring and sighed.

'That is Madison Palmer. And there's a few things you need to know about her...'
