Summary: Ansem drabble. Slightly AU. Takes place several years after game.

"I love you..."

I know he didn't believe me. Why should he believe me? (I didn't believe myself.) Was it because I said it so much? Or in such a harsh tone? Or because I only said it in moments of passion. At least out loud.

"I love you..."

Maybe I wasn't sincere enough. (Heh, me, being sincere; of course he laughed.) But I was. At least, I wanted to be. Despite all I did. Despite all I said. Deep down. I was sincere. I'm human after all. Part of me is. Somewhere.

"I love you..."

It's not like I said it right away. I waited. I waited for years. (Three, no four.) Waited till he could understand. I didn't want to rush. But in the end I did. Maybe it's the noble blood in me. Impatient.

"I love you..."
I said it. And for a moment I think he believed me. (It was in his eyes) Or he needed to believe me. To believe in something, something good. Perhaps I made it up, had to convince myself that he did, even for just a moment.

"I love you..."

I ruined those words. I'm sorry. Three little words said too many times. And said at the wrong times. (I used to be so eloquent with words.) I ruined his faith, his trust, his joy in those words.

"I love you..."

Who would have thought three small nouns, only three syllables, eight measly letters could mean so much? But they do. (I honestly don't understand it.) People die for those words. People kill for those words. Create miracles and commit horrors for those words.

"I love you..."

I love you. (He'll never believe me.) I love you.

"I love you..."

A/N: Just to clarify, Ansem was refering to Riku
