You Have to Fight Your Tears…
Benji ran up to the side of the street and he held his hand out to a taxi, “Taxi!” he yelled
Tony ran up to him, “What was the place called you were at?” He asked
Benji looked back at him and started thinking hard, “I’m… not sure…” He looked up and smiled, “The Karaoke Club!” He said
“That’s a dumb name.” Tony laughed
“Totally!” He smiled and got into the taxi and followed by Tony, “To The Karaoke Club!” He said
The driver drove off
Benji leaned back, “What time is it…” He said looking out the window
Tony looked at his watch, “ 9:50…” He said sighing
Benji nodded and closed his eyes, “I’m so tired…” He said rubbing his eyes
Tony looked at him and fixed his eyes on him smiling a bit, “You… look like it…” He said smiling
Benji looked at him in the corner of his eyes, “Yeah.” He looked forward
Tony sat there watching him and he looked down then out the window on the other side
Benji pulled his knees up to himself looking out the window again, he sighed deeply memories coming back to his head not so hard as the other times. Benji closed his eyes trying to block them out, “Why can’t they go away. What do I need to do?” He asked himself in his head. His temple throbbed but nothing more. He sighed and rubbed his temples lightly, “Is there something to do about the memories?”
Tony looked at Benji then looked away and then leaned to the side and leaned on Benji his head on his shoulder
Benji opened his eyes and looked at him and sighed looking down, not bothering to say anything he looked back out the window
“I’m the person that was following you that night. From your birthday party, I also followed you here. Basically you can call it stalking.” Tony said looking down more so his face was not showing
Benji looked down at him, “I never really thought of it when you showed up here and noticed I messed up. I was too depressed. I don’t get why the heck you are following me though.” He said looking away
Tony sighed and sat up, “Duh!” He looked at him and grabbed his hand, “Can’t you fucking tell
fucking love when it is right under your god damn nose?” He asked
Benji looked at him, “Whoa wait a sec. You love me?” He asked pulling his hand away
Tony looked down at their hands, “The kiss, the I’ll be here for you, the holding your hand! Hello! Come on Benji it is not that hard to figure out!” He said tears going to his eyes
Benji watched him, “Tony… I never thought it meant. After all I’ve been through I guess I never noticed.” He said looking away shyly
Tony watching him and sighed deeply, “Your feelings aren’t the same are they?” He asked looking down
Benji looked at him, “Not… Really…” He said
Tony sighed and smiled, surprisingly he started laughing
Benji looked at him, “What?” He asked raising an eyebrow
Tony kept laughing covering one side of his face
Benji’s eye twitched impatiently, “What?” He asked again
Tony looked at him after he stopped laughing but right when he looked at him he started laughing again
Benji sighed watching him, “Am I that funny Tony?” He asked
Tony looked at him covering his mouth, “No…” He managed to get out
Benji crossed his arms, “What then?” He asked
Tony smiled slightly stopping, “Well I knew deep down you didn’t love me. But I wanted you to love me now I understand.” He said watching him
Benji blinked, “What do you understand?” He asked getting curious
Tony looked up smiling, “You know Hilary? That chick that hangs out with you?” He asked looking at him without turning his head
Benji watched him his eyes shifting a bit
Tony turned his head to him and pointed at him smiling, “You like her don’t you?” He said his smile growing
Benji’s face went red, “No!” He said he shoved his finger away from his face, “What makes you think that!?” He asked looking down his cheeks red
Tony blinked and smiled again, “You do!” He said and started laughing
Benji looked at him without turning his head his eye twitching, “Tony…” He said under his breath
Tony stopped looking at him, “What?” He asked
Benji watched him, “You’re pushing the very wrong button.” He said
Tony blinked and held up his hands, “Dude I’m sorry!” He said and smiled some, “But you know you do!” He said
Benji sat up and took a relaxing breath, “Well…” He looked up and looked at him smiling, “Maybe I do! But what do you have to do with it?” He asked watching him
Tony watched him blinking, “Ok you have weird personalities…” He said watching him
Benji sat up straight against the seat and looked at him making himself look insane, “But I love my weird personalities!” He smiled and started laughing
Tony blinked and then started laughing with him
After awhile the bus stopped and Tony and Benji ran through all the people and ran off the bus and started down the street, “How much time now Tony!” Benji said looking back at him
Tony still running looked at his watch, “It is 11:28! We need to hurry!” He said looking back up at him
Benji looked around, “Ok! Um…” He looked around, “We don’t have enough time for a taxi.” He
said to himself. He looked at an alley and smiled, “Shortcut!” He yelled back at Tony and pointed at the alley
Tony blinked and nodded
They ran into the alley and stopped
Benji sighed resting his hands on his hips, “Figures.” He said looking forward
“A brick wall…” Tony finished for him
Benji looked around and saw trashcans sitting there that they can climb on, “Ok… Tony? We need to learn how to learn how to climb now!” He said and ran forward and jumped up on the trash cans and grabbed the brick wall climbing over the brick wall and falling on trash bags on the other side
Tony blinked, “You are so crazy!” He said and ran up and jumped on the trashcans and climbed over and tipped over the side and fell on Benji
Benji gasped for air and looked at him, “Time!” He said pushing him off
Tony looked at his watch, “11:34.” He said standing up
Benji stood up looking across the road, “Right there! There’s the building!” He said and started running
Tony followed
Joel sat in the dressing room with Billy, Paul, Chris, and Hilary. None of them were talking
Billy looked up at the clock, “Hey. Joel. We need to go. It’s almost midnight anyways.” He said and stood up from his seat, “We will find Benji. He probably went to a hotel or something.” He said and held his hand out to Joel
Joel still looking down sighed, “I don’t get it…” He said under his breath, “Why in the hell did he leave? He was looking forward to everything.”
Billy sighed, “He choked, it’s ok. We can try again next… year…” He said looking down
Joel sighed, “Or never again. Good Charlotte will never be…” He said
“You’re wrong about that bro. Good Charlotte will be!”
Joel blinked and they all looked up at Benji and Tony who were standing in the doorway
Joel stood up, “Benji?” He asked
Benji smiled, “I’m sorry bro. I messed up but you know what. I will fix things!” He said
Joel looked at the clock, “11:50. We can’t.” He said looking at him
Benji smiled, “Yes we can.” He said nodding
The announcer watched as the last band walked off the stage, “Ok that is it for tonight, now we need to announcer the winners which is.” He grabbed an envelope, “The winner is…” His microphone got turned off, “What the…”
“Yeah this song is dedicated to every kid who ever got picked last for gym class” Joel’s voice came in the background
“This is for you.” Benji’s voice followed
“To every kid who never had a date to no school dance”
“This is for you!”
“To everyone whose ever been called a freak!”
“This is for you!”
“Here we go!” When they both yelled that a curtain behind the announcer fell and Good Charlotte was standing there
Joel stood on the band set and looked at the crowd singing, “What? What? Come on what!?” and he
leaned back singing into the microphone with Benji backing him up playing his guitar, “Ohhhhhhhh.” Joel jumped off the band area and landed singing “Like the time in school when we got free lunch and the cool kids beat us up.”
Benji started saying, “Reduced lunch.” While Joel was singing, “And the rich kids had convertibles and we had to ride the bus!”
Benji smiled and leaned forward and said into his microphone, “55!”
Joel continued singing, “Like the time we made the baseball team but they still laughed at us!”
Benji made a hand gesture saying, “You still suck!”
Joel backed up and looked at Benji smiling singing, “Like the time that girl broke up with me
cause I wasn't cool enough.”
Everyone jumped up and Benji and Joel yelled, “Trick!”
Joel fell to his knees singing, “Things. Things.” Joel smiled at Billy singing, “Here we go!”
Joel stood up and started walking along the stage singing, “The little things. Little things…” He started doing hand gestures at the crowd singing “They always hang around”
Benji smiled singing with Joel, “Little things. Little things!”
Joel fell to his knees in front of some people leaning forward singing “They try to break me
down!” He leaned back singing “Little Things. Little Things”
Benji looked back at Billy singing with Joel, “They just won't go away!”
Billy smiled at him jumping around playing his guitar
Benji smiled still singing with Joel, “Little things. Little things.”
And Joel stood up looking at the crowd singing, “Make me who I am today!” And they all jumped up when he sang, “Go!”
Joel looked back at Benji and backed up to him singing looking at the crowd, “You wanna hate me
now, but I won't stop now, Cause I can't stop now!”
Benji smiled at Joel thinking in his head, “We finally are what we wanted to be. Even if we don’t win. We are what we wanted to be.”
After the song was over the bands came out and stood waiting at the announcer walked out
“Alright, alright everyone. The judges have changed their minds on the vote for the best band.” He started opening the envelope
Joel grabbed Benij’s hand
Benji looked down at his hand then tightened his grip and grabbed Billy’s then Billy grabbed Paul’s and Paul grabbed Chris’s hand. They stood waiting
The announcer pulled out the card, “And the winner for the best band contest is.” He paused, he turned pointing at Good Charlotte yelling, “Good Charlotte!”
People stood up and started cheering and yelling, whistling involved
GC turned to each other and smiled and started jumping up and down yelling
The announcer walked up to Joel, “Would you like something to say?” He asked handing the microphone to Joel
Joel blinked and grabbed the microphone, “Thank you. Thank you all for everything. I know we messed up pretty bad there at the beginning but…” He paused and looked back at Benji and the crew, “I personally think we should all think, Billy Martin for him finding out about this great moment and getting us signed up for it. Thank you so much Billy!”
Billy blinked and smiled
Everyone started screaming for them again
Joel held up his hand smiling, “But above all of us. Any of us. We should really thank my bro, Benji. But…” He walked up to Benji, “I think my bro should tell the story and how he felt.”
Benji blinked at Joel handed him the microphone, “But…” He paused and smiled grabbing
the microphone, “Hi. Ok, I admit I am the doof ball that messed up the whole first time. But as I was running away from the mess, a very great friend of mine came up to me and asked if I was running. Of course I was running cause I couldn’t take the stress. I have this problem and I noticed now how to beat it, I had to stop running from fear. So my friend and I came all the way back with ten minutes running thin, and with my best friends and my best bro we came through. I don’t see why my bro is thanking me, all you people are the ones to be thanked. So thank you all and listen to my new saying, you have to fight your tears in order to fight your fears. Follow that and you will go pretty far in life. Thank you again and have a great day.” He finished smiling and handing the microphone back to the announcer
The announcer nodded to Benji and turned around, “Give a big holler to Good Charlotte! I’m sure you will see them in magazines and on TV!” He yelled smiling
GC sat in the dressing room smiling and laughing
Hilary smiled and looked at Benji, “That was a really great thing you did Benji. Coming back and saving your band.” She said
Benji went red, “Thanks Hilary.” He looked down and looked up, “Hilary I have a question.”
She looked at him, “Yes?” She asked
Billy looked up alarmed, “No…” He said under his breath
Benji looked over his shoulder at Billy and blinked, “Uh.”
Billy looked away
“I was wondering if…” He looked at Hilary, “If you liked Billy?” He asked
Hilary blinked and looked at Billy, “Well. Yeah I do actually.” She said giggling lightly
Billy blinked
Benji smiled and leaned in, “I really think he has the hots for you.” He said smiling
Hilary blinked and went red and looked at Billy, “Really?” She asked
Benji nodded, “I think you should get to know him better.” He said smiling
Hilary stood up and walked up to Billy, “Hey Billy.” She said smiling at him
Billy looked up at her, “Hey… Hilary.” He smiled weakly
Hilary held out her hand, “Lets go, I need to talk to you.” She said smiling
He grabbed her hand and they walked out
Joel walked up to Benji and blinked, “You let the girl you had a huge crush on go?” He asked
Benji looked at him, “I think Billy needs her more than me anyways. I can find someone else out
there. So now what Joel?” He asked watching the door
Joel looked up, “We wait for our big hit!” He smiled at him and looked down, “Oh yeah!” He started digging in his pocket and pulled out a letter, “This was left for you.” He said and opened it handing it to him
Benji grabbed it and started reading
Dear Benji,
I saw your big break, I think it was awesome. I will see you on the road cause I’m gonna get my buds together and we are gonna become a band. I hope we come as big as a hit with people like you guys did. Well I hope I see you later.

Benji blinked and smiled looking out the window, “I will miss you Tony. Come again…”
Joel looked at him, “What?” He asked
“Nothing.” Benji said and looked down
Good Charlotte became popular with their first CD, their biggest hit Little Things. Followed that CD was the CD The Young And The Hopeless, they made a great hit with that CD with Hold On which was about trying to stop teenagers from committing suicide. Then came their CD in the year 2004 called The Chronicles Of Life And Death. This CD had two CD’s a Life and a Death version. Good Charlotte lived a big dream with difficulties and great points. But through it all they thank fans for their support on TV and in Magazines. Good Charlotte will live in the
fans hearts forever. We love you Good Charlotte!

Dear Benji,
I saw your big break, I think it was awesome. I will see you on the road cause I’m gonna get my buds together and we are gonna become a band. I hope we come as big as a hit with people like you guys did. Well I hope I see you later.

Benji blinked and smiled looking out the window, “I will miss you Tony. Come again…”
Joel looked at him, “What?” He asked
“Nothing.” Benji said and looked down
Good Charlotte became popular with their first CD, their biggest hit Little Things. Followed that CD was the CD The Young And The Hopeless, they made a great hit with that CD with Hold On which was about trying to stop teenagers from committing suicide. Then came their CD in the year 2004 called The Chronicles Of Life And Death. This CD had two CD’s a Life and a Death version. Good Charlotte lived a big dream with difficulties and great points. But through it all they thank fans for their support on TV and in Magazines. Good Charlotte will live in the
fans hearts forever. We love you Good Charlotte!
