The rest of the story will mostly be written in first person. I am not as experienced in writing in first person point of view so please forgive me if I slip into third person. This story contains a lot of the original dialog from the manga but I edited a lot of scenes that I don’t think are important.
SWITCH will signify a change in points of view.
Chapter 2: 1914
-A notification to all the citizens from MP headquarters. The man called ‘Scar’ who was declared dead in East City, has appeared in central. There were three victims, all national alchemists. The MP who reported the incident said the man had a big cross-shaped scar on his forehead. He is an Ishbalan with tattoos covering his whole right arm.-

I stared down at the little girl in the dirty alley. “Who’s this?”
“Ah! Welcome back master Scar! You haven’t been back for a week so I was worried sick!” The small simpering man said happily. Yoki was someone I had picked up at an Ishbalan camp when he tried to get me captured. He was more of a hindrance than a help but I couldn’t let him go and risk bringing the authorities. And now he showed up with a little girl and a strange looking cat.
“Yoki-san saved me when I came into your country!”
“Who’s this?” I asked again.
“Hello! My name is Mei!” I stared down at the cute little cat thing. I couldn’t resist cute animals like that. “Is that rentan-jutsu?” I glanced down at the little girl to see she was staring at my arm. “That tattoo is from my countries rentan-jutsu, right?”
“You’re from Xing, right?”
“Yes.” Mei’s smile seemed permanently fixed on her face.
“My brother found documents from the Xing’s and then he expressed an interest in alchemy. This tattoo is a result of my brother’s research.”
“Where’s your brother now?”
“He’s dead.” Something that dug into my heart every day. “The state alchemists killed him.”
SWITCH
So Scar was alive. I couldn’t help but feel a small amount of understanding for the man who killed state alchemists to avenge his brother. If Al had died…it was too painful for me to think about. But we could use his presence to our advantage.
“We have to trick the Homunculus out of hiding.” I stared at Al seriously. “If I was attacked by Scar…”
“They’ll appear.” Al finished my sentence for me. “Isn’t the chance of them appearing very low?”
“Well it’s better than nothing!”
“Didn’t we get beaten by Scar before?”
“Um…” So what if we had our asses handed to us? That doesn’t mean we will this time!
Ling, the prince from Xing, oh so graciously offered to help in capturing one of Homunculus. Never mind that his desire to aid us stemmed from wanting to find the Philosopher’s Stone. Ling was my age, but a couple of inches taller. Which seriously pissed me off. His primary weapon was a Xing-style sword and was proficient fighter, even if he didn't know alchemy. His eyes were slanted slightly differently than most Amestrians and his long black hair was always tied in a low ponytail. And he was a fucking mooch. If this guy was a prince, why did he always make me and Al pay for his bills? This had already led me to kicking his ass a couple of times.
Now they had a least some semblance of a plan. In order to draw Scar’s attention to me in the first place I was going to go around Central and use my alchemy to help the people with repairs and such. They would get to talking about me and it wouldn’t be long before word reached Scar about my presence.
Al and I wandered the streets confidently. I had to drag him away from stray kittens a few times while Ling and his bodyguard chose a high roof to perch on, laying in wait for the Homunculus’ arrival. Despite my assurances to Al, I was a little wary of my ability to not be killed by Scar until the Homunculus arrives. We were walking by one of the alleys when I heard a noise behind us, I whipped around and barely dodged Scar’s arm crackling with alchemy. I ducked and rolled, scrambling down an alleyway and away from civilians.
Al and I clapped our hands together and slapped them on the ground, sending stone pillars at Scar. He did a black flip to outmaneuver them and landed in a crouched position. He immediately darted forward and swiped at me, forcing me to do a back handspring and arch my back away from him. Al shot another pillar at Scar, which he easily destroyed with one touch of his right hand.
Damn it, if I lose to Scar now, everything will be in vain… I can’t get too close to him but I can’t get so far away that he leaves the battle…
“Ugh…” Scar’s fist grazed the side of my face and I threw my self to the side, scrambling to my feet and running further down the alley.

As Ed tried to stay alive down on the streets, Ling spotted the Homunculus Gluttony. “They’re here!”

Part of the wall that Scar destroyed crumbled and a piece of it fell and cut me right above my eye. Shit, the blood was trickling into my eye and blotting out my vision.
“Damn it!” I hissed. Scar wasn’t just skilled at alchemy deconstruction, but his entire body was weapon. He was physically superior to me and so much better at fighting. My only hope was dodging and running.
Shit shit shiiiiittt… Scar came at me again and I clapped me hands together and me him half way. My right palm collided with his and the sheer force of our power colliding against each other, for a second nothing happened and the very air stilled, then it sent both of us flying backwards. I flipped backwards and landed on the tip of my toes and my hands, skidding backwards. Scar braced himself against the power and was pushed backwards on the heal of his feet with his arm held in front of him defensively.
“What the?” Scar hissed.
“Heh…super lucky…” I looked down and saw my automail bared, the right sleeve of my jacket ripped to shreds.
“Countered?” Scar furrowed his eyebrows at me. His own shirtsleeve was ripped away to reveal his strong right arm covered in tattoos. “Fool!”

I caught the Homunculus in the stomach with my foot and sliced the top of his head off. He was thrown momentarily to the ground but quickly healed himself and tried to sink his large teeth into my shoulder.
SWITCH
She was walking around the market when she heard some people talking about the National Alchemist killer still being alive. Oh no, Al and Ed! Where were they? Winry Rockbell pushed through the crowd, ignoring their cries that it was dangerous. She needed to get to Ed and Al. She needed to know they were safe.
SWITCH
Damn it! Why aren’t the Homunculus showing themselves? I didn’t know how much longer I could continue to evade Scar’s attacks. “Shit! A dead end!” Now where was I going to run? I raced up the wall using the pipe to hold on to, but Scar cut through the bottom of it. I was suspended in the air for a second, then I was falling. Al worked quickly and the ground raised up in the shape of a hand, catching me. “Good job little brother!” I could have cried in relief.
“Just hurry up and run!” Al screamed back at me.
Instead of running I turned and planted my feet, facing Scar. Scar stopped as well, only staring at me with some sort of devoid curiosity.
“We and many other alchemists have made mistakes.” I don’t know if I was talking to Scar or myself, “But that doesn’t mean we will acknowledge what we are doing.” Scar made no move to attack me, but I knew he could at any moment. “Scar. There’s something I want to ask you.”
SWITCH
I felt an odd shiver go through me when Edward Elric said my name. His voice was steady and serious. Sometimes I had a hard time believing that this small 16-year-old was a state alchemist. I didn’t want to believe. I didn’t want to kill him, but I had to judge all state alchemists equally. My sunglasses had fallen off my face so I could see him better now. His small stature and long blond hair suited a female more than a male, but I knew from experience that he was still powerful.
“Does being an avatar of god justify taking the lives of doctors who devote themselves to the people?” I stared at him. I didn’t quite get what he meant by that statement, I tried to think of all the people I had killed.
SWITCH
I listened to my older brother talk to Scar, ready to use alchemy if he needed me. I heard a slight noise to my right and turned my helmet that way. It was Winry! Shit, she didn’t know that Scar was the one who killed her parents.
“Do you remember a pair of married Amestrian doctors named Rockbell?” Scar’s attention was solely on Ed so he didn’t see Winry behind him thankfully.
“Wait!” I cried to brother, Winry was around the corner of the building so he couldn’t see her.
“They went help in the Ishbal resistance, and even after being ordered to stop aiding both sides, they continued to help the people of Ishbal…”
Oh no, “Wait, brother!” I yelled at him, but he ignored me.
“Scar! Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten the doctors that saved your life and then were killed by you, you son of a bitch!”
“Brother!” I could see Scar’s eyes widen slightly as brother screamed at him and came forward to attack.
Before he could get any further he caught sight of Winry and froze.
“What? What do you mean?” Winry stared at Scar with her whole body shaking; “This person killed my parents?” A hint of disbelief crept into her voice; “They were killed by someone they saved?” Now anger. “You killed my parents?” My hate for Scar increased as I saw him emotionless face. Did he not even care what he did to Winry? What he did to her parents? “Why don’t you deny it?” She collapsed onto her knees, staring up at him. “Give them back!” She put her hands on her head and screamed in agony. “Give me back my mom and dad!”
I saw her pull a gun from behind her back and I had a brief instance when I wondered why she started carrying a gun around before it set in. “Wait Winry!” Both my brother and me were pleaded with her to drop the gun. Scar would kill her!
Winry pointed the gun at Scar and he finally turned his head away from Edward slightly to stare at her. There was no fear in his eyes, but hardened determination.
“Don’t shoot Winry!” Brother screamed.
“You shouldn’t hold something like that!” Winry should no be tainted with something that could kill people... that had killed people.
“So you are the daughter of those doctors.” Scar turned his head away from her back towards brother but remained looking at her from the corner of his eye. “You have the right to shoot me.” Tears streamed down her face and I felt my heart break a little for the girl I had wanted to marry since the first time I met her. “However…the moment that bullet releases from your gun…you will be my enemy!”

For those who have not read my fan fiction before, here are some things you should know. 1- I will never abandon a story. I may update slowly occasionally, but it will be finished. 2- There will eventually be a lemon, AKA a smut scene. No underage readers. 3-The more you review, the faster I write. It makes me all tingly inside.
