Chapter 32- The ribbon on my wrist says, “Do not open before Christmas”
~Pete~
When I woke up this morning, the guilt hit me like a ton of bricks. I wish that I had just pulled away. But it's too late for that.
I did feel bad. I honestly did, but when Patrick came home with a hangover, it made me chuckle a little.
“You look like you had a rough night.”
He looks up at me with a blank stare and then points behind him. Natasha was standing behind him looking distraught.
I started to worry a little. “What's wrong? Did something happen?”
Patrick opened his mouth then closed it. He tried again.
“I got drunk last night. Like, really bad. So a girl picked me up last night and was gonna take me home. I told her that I didn't want to go home yet, so she took me to a motel. There was a room, but it only had one bed. She took it and she wasn't gonna sleep with me. But I pulled her in and, well, we did it. Natasha, will you please tell the rest?”
She swallowed hard and looked at me. “Well, that girl was me. I tried to pull away from him, but I eventually gave in.”
Patrick put his face in his hands. “God, I feel so ashamed.”
Natasha put her hand on his back and patted him with sympathy.
“I'm sorry that I did this to you.” He said, turning towards Natasha.
“Patty cakes, everything will be fine. I won't tell anyone.”
He sighed. “You're right, everything will be fine.”
I took his hand and pulled him into the bedroom.
“Patrick, I'm so sorry about what happened between me and Brendon. It just sort of happened.” I said, looking down at his engagement ring. We still have to plan the wedding.
He let out a breath that he had been holding. “Yeah, and things just sort of happened with me and Natasha. I was drunk, but I think I should have known better anyway.”
He chuckled, letting a smile spread across his face. “Let's face it, we'll never stop cheating on each other if we don't try.”
“I know,” I said while twisting his ring around. “But it's just so hard with the guys living here.”
He rubbed my knuckles as he said, “I know it's really hard for you. But it's hard for me not to stay away from girls. I guess I really am obsessed with them.”
I chuckled this time saying, “I don't think it's the girls themselves you're obsessed with.”
“I know, but it's still apart of a girl. But I'm willing to give all that up for you because I really do love you. You just have to be patient with me. I'm not used to being, uh, gay.”
I nodded. “And I understand that. But you'll have to be patient with me too. I'm not used to being in a relationship for this long.”
He pulled me into a hug and kissed my cheek. “I guess we have to be patient with each other.”
I hugged him back, gripping his shirt. “I love you so much. I always have. I'm just glad that you're willing to give a fool like me a chance.”
He laughed and kissed my temple. “I've always loved you too. I just didn't know it was real love.”
He pulled back so he could look into my eyes. “And trust me, I am more than happy to give you a chance. Because I love you more than life itself.”
I could feel the warmth between our two hearts as we pulled each other close. I never knew that you could love someone so much until I met Patrick. He was and still is my everything.
Patrick ran his fingers through my hair and then separated from me. “You know who I really want to see right now?”
“Who?”
He grinned. “Madison.”
He walked to her bedroom and I followed him. Inside, Madison was still sleeping.
He picked her up and kissed her. “Hi, Maddie. I missed you.”
She sleepily put her arms around him and said, “Hi daddy. Where were you last night? I missed you.”
His face lit up when she said that. I could tell that it made his hangover less painful.
“I missed you too, baby. I just had to get out for the night. I'm back now.”
We took her to the kitchen where we fixed breakfast for everyone.
Patrick and I had been faithful for a whole three weeks. I couldn't believe Ryan hadn't made a move on me yet, but he hasn't. Keyword being yet.
I almost gave in a couple of days ago when I walked in on Brendon in the shower, but I turned around quickly and went to play with Madison.
And it didn't help any when Natasha came down in nothing but a bra and underwear set with a robe on.
Patrick tried not to stare, but look at her when he said, “Why aren't you wearing clothes?”
She sighed and pulled her robe shut again but it soon fell back open. “Ugh, I don't feel very good. I threw up, so I don't really feel like putting clothes on. Plus, I'm kinda hot anyway.”
Since it was three days before Christmas, I couldn't believe that she was hot. But I could understand why she was sick. It was too bad that it was so close to Christmas.
“Do you need any medicine?” Patrick said, looking worried.
“No, I'll be alright. I'll just let the wave of nausea pass and I'll be okay.”
Soon, she got up, gripping her mouth as she ran to the bathroom. We heard the sound of puke falling. I cringed.
“Ew, I hope that she's doing that in the toilet.”
She yelled back, “It did!”
Relieved, I turned my attention towards Patrick. “So, do you think she'll be okay?”
He nodded. “Yeah, it's probably from all the cake she ate last night.”
I laced my fingers into his as I kissed his lips. “Hopefully you're right.”
She came back, looking kinda pale. “Ugh, I think I'm done,” She said, plopping down on the couch.
Patrick sat down next to her and put his arm around her. “Do you think you're gonna be okay?”
She nodded. “Yeah, the nausea is starting to go away now.”
“Already?” I said, surprised.
“Yep. I'm weird like that. One minute I'll be super sick, the next I'm not.”
He rubbed her shoulders. “Okay, I'm glad you're feeling better. I wouldn't want you to miss Christmas!”
She shrugged. “Why does it matter? I'm probably not getting any presents this year. Unless mom sends some cash.”
I laughed. “Yeah, right! Patrick spent days shopping for you.”
Looking surprised, she said, “Really? You didn't have to get anything for me. I don't even have any money to buy you guys anything.”
He laughed. “You're a teenager! You don't have to have money! It's okay.”
“I'll make you guys something. Hopefully.”
I patted her knee. “We'd love anything you make.”
“Ha, Patrick, how about a barbecue sandwich?”
He twisted up his face. “Ew, please don't make me that.”
“See, you guys wouldn't love everything. But I'll try my best. I just feel so stupid when I don't have anything special to give.”
Patrick looked into her eyes. “Anything you take time to make is special. Just don't worry about it.”
She smiled, but then her face turned to a look of worry.
“What?” I asked.
“Um, I'm not sure if I should talk about this with you guys.”
“Come on, just say it. You can tell us anything.”
She looked uncomfortable, but she continued. “I haven't gotten my period yet.”
I scrunched up my face. “Ew, never mind. I don't want to talk about this.”
Patrick shushed me. “How long has it been due?”
“A week.”
He sighed. “A week's not that bad. Just wait a few days and I'm sure it will, uh, come.”
It was her turn to sigh. “Okay, I'll wait. I'm sure you're right, though.”
It was Christmas. Madison, of course, woke up at 7:00 in the morning and woke us up. She leaped on me saying, “It's Christmas, it's Christmas!”
I groaned. “Not until I wake up.”
“But daddy, you are awake!”
Patrick spoke from his side of the bed. “She's got you there.”
I sighed and sat up. I picked up Madison and got out of bed. Patrick followed me. We knocked on Natasha's door and she answered in her robe.
“Ugh, what?”
I replied in monotone. “It's Christmas.”
Her eyes flew open. “It is Christmas! WOOOO HOOOO!”
I laughed as she jumped around. I remember the days when Christmas was exciting to me like that.
We all went downstairs and sat down in the living room. I picked up all the presents and handed them to everyone. Madison, of course had the most.
She started tearing away at them until they were all unwrapped. She squealed when she saw the trampoline box.
“Trampoline! You guys got me a trampoline!”
We smiled as she hugged the box. We knew that she'd be happy.
Since the guys went to Las Vegas yesterday, it was just us four. Natasha opened her box next.
She gasped as she pulled out the sleek new camcorder.
“It's beautiful!” She said, with her eyes shining.
Patrick smiled, obviously pleased with his choice. “I saw the model you were using when you filmed our, uh, video and I thought that you could use an upgrade.”
She leaped up from the couch and hugged Patrick tightly. “Thank you guys so much, I love it,” She said, then she went to hug me.
She sat back down and admired her camcorder and then said, “Okay, now it's your turn. I wish I had something better to give you, but this is the best that I could come up with.”
I took the box and sat it in Patrick's lap. “I'm sure whatever you thought of will be just fine.”
Patrick took the very well wrapped gift and started to tear at the paper.
“It's almost too pretty to open. It definitely makes our tree look crappy.”
She laughed. “Just open it.”
He tore off the rest of the wrapping paper and the opened the box. Inside was a open pregnancy test. Patrick picked up the stick and we both looked at it. There was a plus sign.
Patrick looked up at her wide-eyed. “Where did you find this?”
“I bought it for me. I got worried, so I bought one yesterday. Patrick, I'm pregnant with your next child.”
His mouth hung open like he was going to say something, but he didn't.
Natasha shrugged and said, “Merry Christmas?”
