It was a dark and stormy night. This is the time most vampires come out and play. Right now, we are stalking our next target. A female vampire by the name of Pamela Moody. Kevin, our boss, said that her crimes were as followed. She drained innocent people and she tore a dog apart. Maddy and i were perched on top of two different buildings, waiting for the vamp to separate from the male vampire. Again our luck turned against us, she and the male entered the goth club Blood Drop which is filled with vampires. I gave Maddy the signal to follow her. Maddy nodded and jumped down from her building. With my keen eyesight, i saw Kelly and Tasha hiding in the dark of an alleyway, looking at me and waiting for a signal. I gave them the signal to move out and pointed at the goth club. They nodded and ran out of my sight. Somebody poked me in my back which was a huge mistake for this vampire. I grabbed the vampire's arm and almost tossed him over my shoulder so he could hit the ground when a voice stopped me.
" Hailey, its me. Please put me down," the voice sobbed. I sat the person down and turned around to glare at my little brother. I grabbed A.J's shirt collar and pulled him close so that our faces were inches apart.
" What did i say about sneaking up on me while I'm in hunting mode?" I growled in his ear.
" Um, not to," he replied.
" Exactly, now why did you poke me in the back a minute ago?"
" Because i was going to ask when we would go slay the vampire," he replied. I let him go and jumped down from the building. I landed on my feet and started to walk to the goth club. You see the only reason I'm being a bitch right now is because i don't want my brother to get killed. I'm not usually a bitch.I heard running and A.J appeared right next to me.
" Show off," He said. I stuck my tongue at him. The club bouncer stopped us from entering the club.
" IDs please?" The bouncer asked. A.J showed him his ID and i showed mine.
" We're here with a Miss. Maddy Burke," I said before the bouncer could reject us. You see Maddy was a regular here.
" Okay then i need to confirm with her that you are with her," with that said, he went into the club. After a minute of waiting, A.J started to tap his foot.
" Whats taking him so long."
" Patience is vital in this line of work," I told him.
" Oh." He stayed quiet for once. Now let me explain to you that vampire slayers are immortal and unlike vampires we are born this way. If you have a birthmark on your side that is shaped like a cross, you are destined to be a vampire slayer. For every 5 years vampire slayers age one year.
The bouncer came back and let us in. I scanned the crowd and found Maddy sitting next to Torie. All the girls got up and walked over to me.
" Whats the plan?" Tasha asked.
" Spread out and find the target," I answered. They nodded and went their separate ways. I grabbed A.J before he could leave my side. " You stay close to me, its too dangerous for you to be alone." He rolled his eyes but obeyed. We walked over to the bar and sat down on some stools. The bar tender came up to us and checked me out.
" What can i get you? May i recommend the blood drop?" The bar tender said.
" I'll have a bloody Mary," I said.
" I'll have the blood drop," A.J said.
" Make that order a bloody Mary too," I quickly said. The bar tender left to go get our orders. A.J glared at me.
" Why did you change my order?" He growled. I looked at him and felt sympathy for him. I sighed and turned completely towards him.
" A.J, the blood drop is the club's special and since it only serves vampires, the specials are gonna have human blood in it." I didn't want to tell him that it has vampire blood in it too which is like poison to us slayers like our blood is poison to vampire.A.J's face softened and he looked down at his feet. I grabbed his shoulder and he looked up.
" Hey, all you have to do is learn to think stuff through," I said in my best supportive sister voice. He nodded and took a sip of his bloody Mary which arrived just a few minutes ago. I scanned the crowd but didn't see the target. Suddenly my walkie talkie started to go off. I took it off my belt.
" Talk to me," I said into it.
" A found the target. She's heading for the girls bathroom," Kelly said.
" Okay, inform the others. I'm on my way." I placed the walkie talkie back in to my belt and turned around to face A.J.
" Did they find her?" He asked as i placed a twenty on the bar table. I nodded and started to walk over to the ladies room. I went into the bathroom, i slammed the door shut and locked it so A.J couldn't come in. The girls had the target pinned against the wall.
" What do you want from me?" The target asked. When the target saw my red eyes, her face turned glum. " I knew you would come for me one of these days so whats the charges?"
" Pamela Moody, you have been sentenced to be slayed because of the charges of manslaughter; first degree." I got my stake out and held it out for everyone to see. Torie covered the target's mouth so her scream won't be heard throughout the whole club. I pushed the stake as hard as i could through her heart. The girls stepped back as her body turned to ash. We stepped out of the bathroom and started to head for the door with a pissed off A.J. We got into our cars and drove off. Maddy was driving and i was in the passenger seat while everyone else was in the back seat. I lied my head back against the seat and closed my eyes. I groaned as my cellphone went off.
" Hello," I said into the mouth piece.
" I have another mission for you." It was Kevin, our boss. " But it can wait until the day after tomorrow. I'll email you the info tomorrow."
" OK bye." I hung up the phone and closed my eyes.
